Many clubs are still finalizing their bonspiel schedules for 2008-2009, but here are some events that are on the calendar. Starting with <a href="http://www.greatlakescurling.org/">GLCA</a> clubs:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mayfieldcurling.com/">Mayfield</a> is hosting its men's spiel November 14-16, a women's spiel on December 6, and its mixed spiel from February 27-March 1.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.columbuscurling.com/">Columbus Curling Club</a> has a brand new facility and will be hosting its first ever bonspiel from December 12-14. It will be an open spiel. They are also planning to host a men's event in March.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.detroitcurlingclub.com/">Detroit Curling Club</a> will host its men's spiel from January 2-4, the USWCA 5-and-under spiel on January 17-18, a ladie's one day on February 7, and its mixed spiel on February 21-22.<br /><br />Information from north of the border is trickling in more slowly. As of today, we have one event on the calendar: The Beach Grove Curling Club is hosting a mixed bonspiel November 7-9. This is a great bonspiel that will include several teams from BG. Sign up soon. It fills up early.<br /><br />Our <a href="http://www.greatlakescurling.org/">GLCA</a> partners in Knoxville, Tennessee host a the <a href="http://www.curlknoxville.com/RTO.html">Rocky Top Open</a> bonspiel in early June. This one is already full for 2008, but you can be added to a wait list, and keep it in mind for the future.<br /><br />Those who would like to travel out West have several options. First, there is the <a href="http://www.deserticebonspiel.com/">Desert Ice Bonspiel</a> in Scotsdale, Arizona in late April. Next, in early May, there is the <a href="http://www.utahcurling.com/ogdencurling/bonspiel.html">Rocky Mountain Open Bonspiel</a> in Ogden Utah - the site of the 1998 Olympics. Then, there is The <a href="http://www.coloradocurling.org/index.php">High Altitude Bonspiel</a><a href="http://www.coloradocurling.org/index.php"> </a>in Colorado Springs, Colorado over Memorial Day Weekend. In late July, Bismarck, North Dakota is the site of a huge <a href="http://www.capitalcurlingclub.org/">Summerspiel</a>. The <a href="http://www.trianglecurling.com">Triangle Curling Club</a> in North Carolina will be hosting a <a href="http://www.trianglecurling.com/TCCSummerBonspiel2008Flyer.pdf">bonspiel</a> on August 9-10. Finally, the wine country Northern California is the site of a late August <a href="http://www.bluerockhills.net/curling/">bonspiel</a>.<br /><br />For the truly adventurous (who also must have deep pockets given the value of the U.S. dollar), there is the <a href="http://sasport.is/krulla/page/ice_cup_2008">Ice Cup</a> in May in Iceland. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity<br /><br />Most of these bonspiels take place on arena ice, and hot, humid weather can make for challenging conditions, but this is half the fun, and the parties are great!<br /><br />For those of you wishing to hone your skills for next season, consider the <a href="http://www.hotshotscurling.com/">Hot Shots Fantasy Curling Camps</a> in Oakville, Ontario next August and September.<br /><br />We will be back on the ice in Bowling Green for the Early Bird in late September.
